John Reitz, for many years a regular visitor to seminars and colloquia at the Michigan Physics department, died in June 2014 in Ann Arbor. Formerly a professor of physics at Case Institute of Technology and well known for the textbook Foundations of Electromagnetic Theory by Reitz and Milford, he became manager of the Physics Department of the Ford Scientific Laboratory in 1964, a time when that laboratory was enormously productive in both pure and applied research. After retiring from Ford, Reitz enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration with Frederick Mayer, a physicist formerly with KMS Fusion in Ann Arbor and also a regular visitor to our colloquia.
An obituary derived from that by Mayer and Milford is here: John R Reitz (1923-2014)
