Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics

Atomic, molecular and optical physics is the study of atoms and their interactions with light and each other. It is both theoretical and empirical, and deals primarily with electrons and photons, focusing on scales of hundreds of nanometers and energies of a few electron-volts. Its applications include spectroscopy, lasers, and atomic clocks.
